Curse of Ancient Shadows Ancient Shadows Series eBook Rod Tyson Reviews
Kind of boring I would not read it waist of prime and time get another book like the hunger games
I read a lot of Young adult books and I have to tell you this is one of the best I have read in a long time.
The story picks you up and moves along at an exciting pace as we join the main character, Cat as she chases down clues to find out why she has such a weird family!
Loved the Hamblings, the coastal town where Cat's grandfather lives and Cat puts her first clues together. Rod Tyson has a fantastic imagination, and paints a picture that is vivid and exciting, even coming up with a local language which is totally beleivable.
It would make a great film!
I'm glad the book ends with the idea that there is more to come, because I cant wait to read more!
Curse of Ancient Shadows by Rod Tyson
'''''
Cat had a pretty normal life... or so she thought until her father went missing. She went to stay with her grandfather because her dad wasn't around to pick her up from school. She hadn't seen her grandfather in years and wasn't sure what to expect, especially not that her family was cursed and the curse was after her. She had to decipher the clues and win the game that had been set in motion. Only one could live in the end, and the past events were not in her favor since her ancestors ended up dead.
Curse of Ancient Shadows was a fast-paced, adventure-packed story. There was not a dull moment, and there was always something going on. There was no option to be bored while reading this enticing story.
Rod Tyson contacted me and asked me to read and review his book. The story sounded interesting, so I accepted the request. Going into this story with no expectations, I came away with a great read. The story held my attention and kept me turning the pages to find out what would happen next. I liked that it had different aspects to it there was archeology, a curse, fantasy, treasure and adventure. What more could you ask for? It all fit together really well, and I was impressed with this debut novel. The author created a really interesting world that was fun to read about and kept me wanting more.
The author ended this book well and left the ending with the clear possibility that there could be another book, which I would really enjoy.
-Christie's Book Reviews
When Rod Tyson, the author, asked me to review his book, I wasn't sure if I would like it. I read the blurb and the first thing that came into my mind was Harry Potter! Ok, when you'll read the blurb, you'll realise that there's almost nothing to compare to the Famous Harry Potter series, but the mix of YA characters, magic, cursed people, ancient entity... Wow the main character had to pass through so much, just like Harry!
Anyway! When we start to read this book, we meet Cat, the main character. She seems the normal teenage girl, the kind of girl next door, with normal friends and a normal family/life. Her mother had vanished a few years ago and nobody knows what happened to her. So they all supposed that she's dead. When Cat realise that her father is also gone missing, she'll discover/thrown into a whole new world filled with really strange creatures, prophesies, people with great and dangerous powers and a curse that follows the members of Cat family, but I can't tell you too much! O.o
The storyline was well written; I loved the fact that the author, Rod Tyson, had kept the teenagers speech. At first I wasn't sure if I liked, but after a few chapters, I get used to it and even enjoy it. I found it original and personal to the author and I never really read any book filled with that kind of writing!
After a few lines, the author Rod Tyson throws his readers into a fast-paced line, action non-stop and a really great/entertaining and exhilarating adventure. You won't be able to find a calm/relaxed moment in this story to put the book aside and take a pause, there's always something happening!
There are a lot of characters! Oh my! That bother me a little and just like in Harry Potter, sometimes I got lost in all those names! But they all have they special moment/abilities/something and we get attached to the main characters! As for the ''Bad Guys'' we all like to hate them as well!
Cat is a great female character she sounds smart with great qualities and values and she's not childish about anything (normal) and wants to help everyone! She got a great spirit and I really want to see more about this character!
I didn't want this kind of ending, but in a way, I think there was no other ''good'' way to end it. I don't know if Rod Tyson struggles to decided which way he'll ended his story but I think he make the best choice and even get an opening kind of end to be able to do a trilogy or a series!
I would recommend this book for fantasy/YA lovers. *No Romance
Go get your copy, borrow it or put it on your TBR pile for a great and exciting read!

Parts of this book were really well written.
I have to say though, that there were some things that seemed odd. The children in the book didn't seem like normal children. There were no giggles or sounds of disgust when Ben picked his nose or someone farted. They just seemed to accepted that really strange creatures and weird things were happening without finding it really weird or scary.
One thing that bugged me a bit was that every mechanical vehicle in this novel belches black smoke. Motor cycle, van, moped - every single one.
Another thing I found really odd as a parent (even though my kids are grown) is that Hetty's parents shipped her off to stay with Cat in a strange place which was not Cat's home without ever even speaking to an adult.
And lastly in the way of criticism, the ending when Cat was trying to rescue her parents made no sense to me at all.
Now for the things I did like
There were lots of fantasy elements. This is an epic adventure and there is lots of action. And you know what? Maybe for some of you those things I am nitpicking about won't make a whit of difference. They might even add to your enjoyment.
